Day Trip-Ipoh

Some weekend ago, my friends and i decided to stuff ourselves silly with food in Ipoh. It took us approx 2 hours to reach our destination and here goes:

Dim sum at Foh San. Oh look how much they've changed! Impressive!

Taste and quality is slightly above average if u ask me.

Cheong Fun with Stewed Duck & Ginger in claypot. Must try!! Wrong order made by me and it turned out to be the best dish we had at Foh San.

We took some shots at the backlane next to the best Tau Fu Fah at Funny Mountain :D

Val & I

Had chinese tea at Purple Cane. Nice ambience. (previous Foh San shop)

ta pau-ed Salted Chicken all the way back to KL. Nice!

Then we went to a coffeeshop and got really dissappointed with our drinks. Iced IPOH White Coffee. It was the worse ive ever had! I cant believe they cant even get this basic drink right.

Ipoh Sar Hor Fun. Waited more than 1/2 hour for this bowl of treasure.

Lou Wong. Supposedly famous for Ngar Choy Kai.

Sadly it was not up to our expectation. The chicken meat was so tough it was as though we were chewing on rubber!
Lastly we had dinner at Tanjung Tualang and here is their signature dish!
If u are visiting Ipoh, please help me buy the Salted Chicken! :D

The Uma Balinese Restaurant

I was introduced to this cozy Balinese restaurant by my sister in law. Pronounced as "The Oo-meh", a Balinese word for Paddy field.

She loves trying out new restaurants. For me, i would prefer recommendations and be assured that the food is really good before giving it a try. :D

Located at 7G & 7-1, Jalan PJU 5/21, The Strand, Kota Damansara.

The interior.

Like as if you are really in Bali

My sister in law had the Pork satay set. She said it was marvelous.

My mom and brother had the chicken set. Just look at the size of the chicken!! (RM18)

My Fried Duck set. Chef's recommendation. I enjoyed every single bite. (RM20)

Truly an authentic Balinese dining experience!

Beauty Therapy

Every girl should pamper herself every now and then. Agree? :D

For me, a manicure and pedicure session is something i cannot miss although i can paint my own nails.

I usually visit Diva Nail Salon @ Kota Damansara simply because they have Ogawa massage chairs! Hehe No lah, their service is good too!

ewwww.. why would anyone take up this job? :/

So many OPI colors to choose from. Trust me, it took me 15 mins to decide. I hate making decisions!

Ended up with this color which i have forgotten its name. Do u know that every single OPI color has a unique name to it? What do you think? I love it so much i cant stop looking at my nails, haha! Am vain like that

:D :D :D

Restoran Tasty Chicken Rice

My favourite chicken rice shop is the champion of the Malaysian Hainan Chicken rice competition in 2007!

Its really hard to find really good chicken rice in town and am glad this shop is just a stone throw away from home.. :)

Restoran Tasty Chicken Rice
22A-1, Jalan PJU 5/16
Dataran Sunway
Kota Damansara

The rice is fluffy and is not sticky

The roasted chicken is tasty! I especially love the skin because its so crispy!

Fresh beans sprout goes very well with the chicken rice

Ok this chicken feet dish is my favouriteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Omg... Its to die for!
I cannot understand why some people finds it disgusting! :D
I forgot to snap pic of the chilli sauce and ginger :)

Typical coffee shop ambience but u can be sure its clean.

Eating In

Healthy breakfast for two on a Sunday morning @ home. Bliss!

I get so tired of eating out sometimes. U know, i rather mess up the kitchen and prepare what i wanna eat at the comfort of my own home. Cleaning up the dishes is not my favourite but i do love grocery shopping and the cooking part! :) I find that cooking a meal for 2 person isnt cheap at all. Meat and vegetables are quite pricey nowadays. Its best to buy them from the market but who likes going to smelly wet markets ? :)

Spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen last weekend and heres what i prepared:-

Stir fried black pepper beef with spring onions.

Cauliflower & Carrots fried with lots of garlic.

Fried fish and the must have cili padi.
I wish i could master the art of frying fish someday! I find it really difficult cuz the fish will stick to the wok no matter how hot the oil is and when i try to flip the fish over, it will surely tear apart. Not to mention oil splatters everywhere! Argh. Do you have any tips to share?

Another meal complete with choy sum soup, omelette, fried chicken & japanese tofu with minced chicken.

Cooking can be really easy and fun! Am off to search for new recipes to cook for this weekend... :)
